Teaching Styles
As a student of Hatha Yoga through the Joy of Yoga School in Northern California, Andrea’s teaching style is well-rounded, diverse and constantly evolving. Below are a few of the yoga classes she offers.
Yin Yoga
A traditionally slow moving class where postures are held for minutes at a time in conjunction with guided meditation and breath work to increase presence and awareness.
Benefits include: increased relaxation, improved sleep, stress and anxiety reduction, and increased flexibility and joint mobility.
Vinyasa Yoga
A flow based class that moves from one posture to the next while connecting breath to movement. In a vinyasa class, fire and strength is built in the body through quick, fluid movements and challenging postures. This variety of yoga can be offered at many levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).
Benefits include: detoxification, increased strength, endurance and flexibility, decrease of anxiety and stress, heart health, and improved stability and balance.
Ladder Flow
A flow based class that builds towards a finalized sequence by stacking postures, repeating, and adding on new postures to reach a full sequence that is natural and familiar to the body. This class gives students the opportunity to become familiar with the poses and notice increased depth and advancement as we learn the sequence together.
Benefits include: detoxification, heart health, physical exploration, visible and tangible progress throughout the class, and increased flexibility.
Yoga for Flexibility
Yoga for Flexibility is a morning or nighttime class that is completely focused on finding length in the body. Most classes focus on full body stretches, bringing length into parts of our bodies that need it most.
Since, COVID-19, Andrea has been offering nighttime stretching classes for people working remote. These classes are specifically structured to bring space into areas of our bodies that are most affected by the work from home lifestyle.
Benefits include: increased relaxation, improved sleep, stress and anxiety reduction, decreased muscle tension, increased flexibility and joint/muscle mobility.
